Originally conceived for the Wenatchee River, this long-running project found its ultimate home in Sun Valley, Idaho, after the owners spent three years searching for the right site. The chosen seven-acre parcel slopes steeply and offers uninterrupted 360-degree mountain views, requiring a careful refinement of the design to work with the terrain and comply with HOA guidelines.
The residence is composed as a village-like collection of volumes, finished in southern Mediterranean stucco tones and sacked concrete. Inside, generous spaces recall the scale of country living while maintaining a restrained contemporary language. Extensive glazing and a trellis system extend the interiors into the landscape, reinforcing a close connection to the surrounding environment.
